THE BIG FOUR

These four models are roughly one metre long (too big to be ignored as their real life counterparts might be) and are mounted on adjustable safety helmets so that they can be worn on the head.

They are available for hire as a package to bring the natural world into your classroom.

Every gardener’s dream because it eats SLUGS

As a hire package the BIG FOUR come complete with:

  • A4 laminated photos of real beetles
  • Individual factsheets suitable for use with KS2 children upwards, which cover habitat, life cycle, what they eat, place in the foodchain and value in the ecosystem
  • Scripted interviews which put much of this information across in an entertaining way
  • A “microphone” (yes it is made from a cardboard tube and a tennis ball but the whole idea is to fire the imagination)
  • A Beetle quiz and ideas for art activities

The resources provided give a solid framework around which children can compose their own factsheets and interviews and have been proved a stimulus for further creativity e.g. playscripts, conversations between different insects and role play.
